From the Statehouse to the courthouse and city halls around the state, Benesch’s bi-partisan Government Relations practice professionals represent clients in matters of public concern. Our team has decades of experience and has achieved excellent results, making important policy and law in the process.
Members of the Government Relations Practice Group study and evaluate proposed or existing legislation to determine possible effects upon clients. We confer with legislators and key officials to emphasize strengths and weaknesses to influence passage, defeat, or amendment of the proposed or pending legislation. We coordinate meetings between clients and members of the General Assembly and state agencies so lawmakers and staff can hear directly from those impacted by the policy they make. We draft legislation, amendments and testimony and appear at public hearings in support of our clients. The goal, as always, is the best public policy outcome for those we represent.
Our team is fully involved in the political process. We have taken lead roles in ballot issues campaigns. We counsel on election law and campaign finance and provide representation and support for political action committees. Our team serves as trusted confidants for candidates and elected officials around the state.
We have particular expertise in administrative and regulatory matters. We counsel our clients in navigating the maze of administrative regulations and frequently advocate and interact with agency leadership. We often appear before various state agencies, boards and commissions in licensing matters, contracting issues and administrative appeals.
We represent clients in the government procurement process around the state. We identify opportunities and advocate for our clients seeking to do business with the government. We do this work with full knowledge of and compliance with applicable regulations and assure that our clients do the same.
When court action is necessary, our lawyers have a track record of success at all levels of the judiciary, including the United States Supreme Court.
