Benesch was thrilled to celebrate Stephanie Sheridan, Chair of the firm’s Retail & E-Commerce Practice Group and San Francisco Partner-in-Charge, who was recently honored as a Women, Influence & Power in Law (WIPL) award winner in the thought leadership category at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago.
The event brought together more than 900 senior female legal leaders and offered premier opportunities for top-notch networking with peers and mentors. It fostered valuable collaborations and shared experiences while attendees enjoyed professional and personal development, career growth opportunities and insights into the most pressing issues women face in law.
Stephanie, a recognized thought leader, conceptualized the retail industry as a dedicated practice group and formed the Retail Practice Group almost 20 years ago. Despite initial challenges, her clients and the industry quickly embraced the idea. Through grit, determination and effective advocacy, she built the practice from the ground up, creating a leading group that serves both emerging brands and renowned companies. She was among the first lawyers to create a one-stop shop retail-focused practice, starting at Sedgwick, refining it at Steptoe & Johnson and expanding it at Benesch.
As Chair of the Retail and E-Commerce Practice, San Francisco office Partner-in-Charge, Executive Committee member and Litigation Practice Vice-Chair, Stephanie advises and defends dozens of the world’s iconic retailers, spanning luxury brands, department stores, big-box retailers, hotels, restaurants and emerging startups. She helps clients build brands and achieve and maintain marketplace dominance while proactively addressing the challenges posed by federal, state and local consumer protection laws. Handling high-stakes litigation, she has prevailed in numerous civil jury and significant bench trials, achieving winning results for her clients.
