Shoring Up: Preparing for Near-Shoring Impact on Cross-border Traffic | Jonathan R. Todd, Margarita S. Krncevic

The trend of moving manufacturing operations back to North America is currently under way and the prevalence of news headlines involving re-shoring, near-shoring, and friend-shoring are only the tip of the iceburg.  Revitalization of the North American supply chain is dependent upon high quality motor carriers capable of efficiently moving product across Canada, the United States, and Mexico.  Our session will help the audience to prepare for this cross-border traffic by examining the customs regulation, cabotage, immigration restrictions, driver visa programs, and motor carrier safety issues associated with USMCA carriage as well as best practices.  We will focus on ensuring compliance for equipment and drivers, and enforcement trends, as well as during frequent but often misunderstood movements such as cross-border relays and bonded carriage.
