Michael Madigan, the former powerful Illinois House Speaker, has taken an unusually hands-on approach to jury selection in his federal corruption trial, applying the same meticulous and tactical strategies he used throughout his political career to influence the process in hopes of securing a favorable jury.
“He’s been studying people for forever. Who knows the people of Illinois better?” Grohman highlighted Madigan's deep understanding of human behavior, a skill that has served him well in both elections and now, jury selection. He added, “Whenever we get a chance to talk to jurors after a trial, I’m always surprised to find out what they thought. It really is like reading tea leaves.”
