Benesch is pleased to announce that Margarita Krncevic has been appointed to the Verification and Documentation Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She will serve a one year term which begins June 11, 2021.
The AILA Verification & Documentation Liaison Committee liaises with various DHS and DOJ components on issues involving employment verification, I-9 documentation requirements, ICE enforcement efforts, OCAHO, and more. The committee meets regularly with ICE Homeland Security Investigations on worksite enforcement, and the DOJ Immigrant and Employee Rights Section.
AILA’s liaisons and committee members play an integral part in helping AILA achieve its mission to promote justice, advocate for fair and reasonable immigration law and policy, advance the quality of immigration and nationality law and practice, and enhance the professional development of its members.
Margarita is a skilled immigration attorney and Of Counsel in Benesch’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. She counsels employers to comply with federal, state and local laws in taking workforce actions, such as hiring, progressive discipline, terminations, requests for religious or ADA accommodations, managing FMLA (including intermittent) leave, and mitigating co-employment issues. She represents clients in workforce disputes at jury and bench trials, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings before federal, state, and local agencies.
Margarita is a native Spanish speaker and also advises her clients on compliance with immigration issues, including H1-B and family-based visas, labor condition applications, and conducting I-9 audits.
