Benesch is honored to announce that the firm has been recognized by the prestigious Samuel Mather Society for its exceptional contributions to University Hospitals (UH). On behalf of the firm, Managing Partner Gregg A. Eisenberg and Partner Kevin D. Margolis were presented with honorary white coats in an induction ceremony Tuesday by UH CEO Dr. Cliff Megerian, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's and MacDonald Women's Hospital President Patti DePompei and UH Chief Legal Officer Harlin Adelman.
The Samuel Mather Society, named after the esteemed Cleveland industrialist and former UH board chairman, recognizes individuals, family foundations, associations, corporations, foundations and organizations whose lifetime giving to UH totals $1 million or more.
With the support of Benesch and the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, UH providers and legal aid attorneys collaborate to educate healthcare professionals about health-harming legal needs that may impact patients. Through this innovative partnership, physicians, nurses, social workers and other clinical personnel are equipped to identify and refer patients in need of legal assistance. Cases may involve issues such as public benefits, educational concerns, housing needs, custody matters and public utility challenges.
The Medical Legal Partnership (MLP), established through a collaboration with University Hospitals and the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, aims to address the intersection of legal and medical needs to provide holistic care to patients. By integrating legal services into healthcare settings, UH is pioneering a comprehensive approach to improving patient outcomes and addressing social determinants of health.
