Benesch, one of the fast-growing firms on the AmLaw 200 list, is pleased to announce the addition of Phil Eckenrode as Partner in its Cleveland headquarters.
Phil is a distinguished corporate attorney who concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on labor and employment matters. Phil represents clients in a range of commercial matters spanning transactions, disputes, fraud and misappropriation of trade secrets, and counsels employers in hiring and termination practices as well as high-stakes litigation involving non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, claims of unlawful discrimination and post-merger workforce integration.
“When it comes to protecting and defending clients at the intersection of business and employment law, Phil’s track record is simply unmatched,” said Gregg A. Eisenberg, firmwide managing partner for Benesch. “From commercial acquisitions and enforcement actions to highly sensitive, nuanced employment matters, Phil has the knowledge and situational awareness to confidently navigate boardrooms and courtrooms and deliver results for his clients. We’re glad he’s making a home at Benesch.”
Phil brings more than 15 years of experience to Benesch’s Cleveland office, including serving as general counsel for a Cleveland-based manufacturing company for several years. He has extensive experience as first and second chair in both bench and jury trials and has secured several multimillion-dollar victories for clients in state, federal and appellate courts.
“I believe that strong working relationships with clients are foundational to success in both litigation and employment matters” said Phil. “Benesch’s entrepreneurial model affords attorneys the time and space they need to cultivate these relationships, which ultimately build the trust and client confidence necessary to achieve results. I appreciate this approach, and I know my clients will too.”
Since launching a national growth strategy in 2015, Benesch has consistently ranked as one of the nation’s fastest-growing law firms. In the past year, the firm has added 18 lateral hires to its Cleveland headquarters.
Phil holds a B.A. from Kent State University and a J.D. from The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law. He is active throughout Northern Ohio’s civic community, serving as a member of the Board of Education of Olmsted Falls City School District and a member and past chair of the Northern Ohio Regional Advisory Board for Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
