Benesch, one of the fastest-growing AmLaw 200 law firms, has further expanded the core team in its New York office, welcoming partner Rachel Hold-Weiss to the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group.
Rachel represents healthcare industry clients in regulatory, transactional and litigation matters, with an emphasis on serving post-acute and long-term care providers. She represents a variety of both nonprofit and for-profit healthcare providers, including hospices and palliative care programs, home health agencies, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, physicians and provider groups. Trained as a Physician Assistant, she has a deep understanding of her clients’ practices and concerns.
“Rachel brings great technical knowledge and deep empathy to her work on behalf of clients in the healthcare industry,” said Benesch Firmwide Managing Partner Gregg A. Eisenberg. “We’re pleased to have her join our team in New York as we continue to grow our team there and further strengthen our national healthcare practice.”
Rachel counsels clients undergoing federal and state audits and investigations, including audits and investigations conducted by the Office of Inspector General, the New York State Office of Medicaid Inspector General and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Medicare Administrative Contractors. She assists in the defense of individual physicians and institutional providers in fraud and abuse matters, including claims of fraud, anti-kickback, self-referral, corporate practice of medicine and fee-splitting violations. Rachel has represented investors, owners and operators of long-term care and senior housing companies, home health companies, and hospices with regulatory and corporate due diligence and complex corporate restructurings, sales and acquisitions. She has also advised senior living property owners through the regulatory process to enable new operators to take over the operations of nursing homes and assisted living facilities when the existing operators of those facilities have defaulted on loans or have filed for bankruptcy protection. Rachel earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.S., cum laude, from Touro College.
This summer, Benesch expanded its footprint in New York City’s Midtown Business District with the addition of offices at 1155 Avenue of the Americas. With space to accommodate expansion, Benesch’s New York office aims to build on the momentum of the firm’s growth across multiple markets. Since launching its strategic national expansion in 2015, Benesch has been consistently ranked as one of the fastest-growing law firms in the country. This year alone, the firm has added 29 lawyers making lateral moves from some of the nation’s largest law firms.
