As Benesch continues to grow nationwide, the firm has announced the hiring of a pair of attorneys in its Chicago office.
The firm is pleased to announce the additions of partners Scott P. Downing and Jason S. Greis to its Chicago office. Both Downing and Greis are joining the firm’s Health Care & Life Sciences Practice Group and have extensive experience in the renal dialysis sector. Downing and Greis advise their health care clients with regard to transactional law as well as compliance, regulation and policy issues.
“Scott and Jason are outstanding additions to our team, and they will help the firm build on its current strengths in the renal dialysis industry,” said Gregg Eisenberg, the firm’s Managing Partner. “Both have reputations for top-notch client service and navigating through complex matters quickly and efficiently. With the dynamic health care sector constantly changing and evolving, Scott and Jason will have ample opportunity to continue their exceptional work here at Benesch.”
Over his 20 years of experience, Downing has consulted health care companies on developing sound structures for joint ventures that include various providers and non-provider third parties. He also consults ancillary service providers such as dialysis facilities, ambulatory surgery centers and specialty hospitals with regard to regulatory and corporate issues.
He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Greis’ practice focuses on advising long-term acute care hospitals and other post-acute care organizations on complex business and legal issues. He regularly structures corporate transactions for health care and life sciences companies, and also addresses various regulatory compliance issues commonly associated with such transactions.
Additionally, Greis leads his clients through issues involving anti-kickback and physician self-referral prohibitions, the False Claims Act and the corporate practice of medicine. He also helps his clients attain compliance with the Joint Commission accreditation standards, hospital and medical staff bylaw and practice-related matters and other regulatory compliance issues.
He graduated cum laude from the DePaul University College of Law, and from Emory University.
“Scott and Jason are not only great tactical health care attorneys, but they also have the ability to gain their clients’ trust as they lead them through complicated regulatory and policy issues,” said Frank Carsonie, partner and Chair of the firm’s Health Care & Life Sciences Practice Group. “Both will bring different perspectives to the firm, which benefit their new colleagues.
