Benesch is pleased to announce that Johanna Fabrizio Parker has joined the firm as a partner in the Labor & Employment Practice Group and will be based in the firm’s Cleveland office.
“Johanna has a sophisticated practice with a particular focus on retiree medical benefits litigation,” said W. Eric Baisden, Co-Chair of Benesch’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. “With the addition of Johanna, we are one of very few firms in our markets with the capability to handle comprehensive labor and employment issues beyond commodity-type work, from beginning to end.”
Johanna’s practice involves representing and counseling management clients in a wide range of complex employment matters, including claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation brought under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and comparable state law, and matters involving noncompetition agreements and trade secrets. She also regularly represents management clients in employee benefits litigation, with extensive experience defending claims related to retiree medical benefits brought under the Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA) and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). She practices in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Her litigation experience ranges from single plaintiff cases to large class actions.
Johanna also routinely provides day-to-day counseling regarding employment-related matters and compliance issues, such as personnel management, employment policies and handbooks, discipline issues, investigations, severance and release agreements, and corporate reorganizations and reductions in force.
Johanna was previously at Jones Day. She received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University of Law and her B.A. from University of Notre Dame.
“We continue to grow our flourishing Labor & Employment practice, adding six attorneys in the last three months, four of whom are women,” said firm Managing Partner, Gregg Eisenberg. “We are excited to be growing this practice and are handling some of the most cutting-edge and exciting work around the country in this discipline.”
