As Benesch continues to grow nationwide, the firm has announced the hiring of an attorney in its Wilmington, Delaware office.
Gregory Werkheiser has joined the firm’s Insolvency & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group as a partner. Werkheiser represents both debtors and creditors in complex business bankruptcy cases and out-of-court restructurings.
In his practice, Werkheiser handles all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency matters, bankruptcy appellate litigation matters, and assisting clients with navigating the intersection of intellectual property and bankruptcy law. He has advised fiduciaries and managers for distressed enterprises across a wide range of industries, such as retail, energy and transportation.
“Greg is an outstanding addition to the firm. He is recognized as not only a stellar litigator, but as a trusted advisor to his clients,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch’s Managing Partner and Executive Committee Member. “Throughout his career, Greg’s has gained the trust of his clients with his creative problem solving. As Benesch continues to grow, Greg’s talents as both a litigator and as an advisor to his clients are a tremendous asset to the firm.”
Werkheiser is a frequent writer and speaker on bankruptcy and insolvency topics. He has been recognized as a leading Delaware attorney in the bankruptcy and restructuring area by Chambers USA and listed in “The Best Lawyers in America.”
“I am excited to be joining Benesch,” said Werkheiser. “The firm has charted and followed a course for growth. I am looking forward to joining this strong bench of talent, and building my practice at a firm that is so full of entrepreneurial spirit.”
Werkheiser graduated magna cum laude from Delaware Law School and from Pennsylvania State University.
His move to Benesch reflects continued momentum for the firm, which has been growing aggressively through lateral hires as part of a strategic plan launched by Eisenberg and the firm’s Executive Committee in 2015. More than 80 attorneys have joined the firm in the last 18 months. Since making its debut on the AmLaw 200 list in 2016, the firm has advanced 19 places and is currently ranked at number 176.
