As Benesch continues to grow nationwide, the firm has announced the hiring of a pair of attorneys in its Chicago office.
The firm welcomes associates Sheila Prendergast and Tracey Starck to its Litigation Practice Group.
“Clients increasingly look to us to handle complex business disputes with sophistication,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Managing Partner and Executive Committee Member. “Building on our capacity to deliver quality work in this area is a top priority for the firm. Sheila and Tracey are outstanding additions to our growing bench of talent.”
Prendergast represents clients in all aspects of federal and state court litigation at both the trial and appellate level. She works on complex matters involving contract disputes, business torts, products liability, securities, health care fraud, and government investigations, as well as provides a wide range of pro bono legal services.
Prendergast graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School and cum laude from Georgetown University.
Starck helps her clients navigate complex IP litigation, including patent, trade secret, and trademark matters. Earlier in her career, she worked as a chemist at a research and development start-up. Early in her legal career she drafted patent applications related to polymeric materials. Her experience both in industry and with transactional IP matters informs her current practice as a technology-focused litigator.
She graduated summa cum laude from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and cum laude from Columbia University.
Overall, Prendergast and Starck are joining Benesch’s Chicago office during a time of significant growth for the firm. More than 80 attorneys have joined the firm in the last 18 months. Since making its debut on the AmLaw 200 list in 2016, the firm has advanced 19 places and is currently ranked at number 176.
